Cooking: A Universal Art
Cooking is the art of preparing food—an activity that takes place in nearly every household, hotel, hospital, and restaurant. Everyone enjoys healthy and tasty meals that suit their personal preferences, age, lifestyle, and budget. Food is not just about filling the stomach; it’s about fulfilling the needs of the body and the soul.
Cooks typically fall into two broad categories: vegetarian and non-vegetarian. These preferences are not only influenced by religion but also by geography, availability of ingredients, and cultural habits. For example, in India, people from Uttar Pradesh often avoid rice during a fever, while in Bengal, rice is still commonly consumed even when someone is ill, without any perceived harm to their health.
Interestingly, the same dish can taste completely different depending on the method of preparation, cooking time, temperature, and ingredients used. This is what makes cooking both a science and an art.
In this section, we’ll be sharing some cooking ideas and recipes that you can try in your free time. Feel free to send in your favorite recipe tips along with pictures of your dishes—or better yet, invite me over to taste your culinary creations!
